Dr. Shareen Kato taught undergraduate students for over 30 years and served as the Family and Consumer 科学 (FCS) department director for 15 of those years. Dr. Kato holds an undergraduate degree in Home 经济学, a Master’s in Human Ecology, Doctorate in Education, and is professionally certified in family and consumer sciences-human development and family studies (CFCS-HDFS). She teaches courses in the family and consumer sciences core, as well as children and families, 工作与家庭, and communicating FCS.
She spends two weeks in the Philippines each year with students as they serve in an orphanage, 孩子回家, and participate in feeding and in a prenatal clinic, while learning to build community support systems.
Her professional memberships include the American Association of Family and Consumer 科学, the International Federation of Home 经济学, and the Washington Association of Family and Consumer 科学.
Dr. Kato has traveled to dozens of countries with her husband and their children. Her passions include family-life education, cultural diversity, and helping families who are resource-challenged.
